The micro-ecology of Bacillus cereus in soil

Bacillus cereus sensu lato is a family of soil bacteria that are ubiquitous in natural and human-associated environments. These bacteria have a significant impact on various public domains such as food safety and agriculture. I'm using a blend of microbial ecology, genetics and genomics to look at the structure and interactions of natural populations of B. cereus in order to understand how certain different lineages coexist, compete and/or collaborate, and how this relates to the emergence of ecotypes or pathotypes that are relevant to human health and activities.
