Chemical Biology of Interspecies Interactions

My work is focused on studying molecular interactions between different microbial species present in the same ecosystem. Using molecular biology, genetics, microbiology and biochemical approaches I’m trying to unravel how secondary metabolites produced by soil bacteria affect the metabolism and promote responses in other soil organisms. In this way I’m seeing how bacteria compete, cooperate and take advantage of the metabolic potential of other microbes.
