In microbial communities, species are constantly exposed to pressures exerted by the environment and by the interaction with other microbes. Organisms must either adapt to these pressures or face extinction. I am interested in understanding how interspecific interactions might act as selective factors in shaping the microbial evolution. My research is focused on the evolutionary dynamics of fungi and bacteria in polymicrobial communities.
